Jerry England and John Honderich

In the ‘90s, Real Estate News was Toronto’s largest real estate publication, and was produced, marketed, printed and distributed weekly by the Toronto Star through a joint venture agreement with TRREB. Real Estate News comprised three weekly publications: Real Estate News GTA edition (with a circulation of approximately 100,000); Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate News (with a circulation of approximately 10,000); and Town & Country Real Estate News, published in Stratford and servicing Huron and Perth counties (with a circulation of approximately 5,000). Pictured here is a photo of Jerry England, TRREB Past President; and John Honderich, publisher of the Toronto Star from 1994 to 2004.

Did you know?

  • TRREB continued to lobby against a proposed second Toronto Land Transfer Tax, achieving compromises and winning the public relations battle on the issue, with more than 500 mentions in media during the 2007 campaign. TRREB received the encouragement of Members and their clients, who sent more than 5,000 emails in support of TRREB efforts, and of like-minded organizations, who formed a coalition to fight the tax. Mayor David Miller told the Globe and Mail, “I underestimated the impact that TRREB’s campaign was having on individual Members of council who were undecided.” (2008). TRREB defeated the Mayor’s attempt in the first vote on the LTT in July 2007
