  • In 1941, President E. Vaughan Chambers predicted that the city would be an industrial hub even after World War II, and that the British Empire was already planning a retribution of industry amongst its countries. “In view of the nature of modern warfare, industry should be located within moderate transportation reach of raw materials… good and even second-class industrial space for rent has practically ceased to exist in Toronto.” (The Globe, January 15, 1941)
